Other times his asthma could come when he met dogs or cats.
Not all of them, some breeds he handled better than others.
We could also tell that during the spring it would be worse
because that is the time when the birch starts to grow.
He went through a lot of tests to see what exactly he was
allergic to. The tests showed that he had allergies against
hairy animals and pollen. He was lucky though, because he
got a very slight version of asthma and allergies. But it has
been very hard some times anyway.
During some years he had to take medicin every day. He had
to take antibiotics and when he got the croupcough, he got some
caughmedicin. Now he has fortunally grown out of his asthma.
He can get some attacks still though, but not so often as before.
My other son Kenneth, born -92, got the diagnose milkallergie
when he was 3 months old. Those first months with him were
hard and difficult. He always had a ache in his little stomach.
The nights that I had to be awake and take care of him were many.
He got rashes in his behind and round his mounth. He also had
diarrhoea all the time. I took contact with our paediatrician and
he suggested that I should stop brestfeeding Kenneth for a while
and give him milkfree formula instead. So I did that and guess
what? Kenneth got much better, the rashes disappeared.
He could sleep all night through, and the ache in his tummy
also disappeared. Our paediatrician told me that I could try
to give him some milk to see how he reacted. That was not
a good idea. The troubles began pretty quick, so I took away
the milk again and kept on giving him milkfree formula.
At this time it was hard to find milkfree products in the shops.
I remember how I had to run in and out from different stores
just to find milkfree products. I then decided to make his food
myself instead. It was pretty easy, just skip the milk in everything.
Ice-cream was hard though, but finally I found a shop that had
milkfree icecream. Guess if Kenneth was happy then. He had
difficulties to understand why he couldnt eat icecream when
his brother and sisters could.
Because he got his milkallergie at such a early age it has now
grown away. I am very happy about this. Kenneth can now eat
everything that we eat. Well, he still has to take it easy with
drinking milk, only 1/2 a glas every day, othervise the problems
will return. But it is a good start I think.
Today it is much easier to find milkfree products in the shops.
I think it is important that all shopowners get aware of the fact
that are many children suffering with milkallergie, and that they
will need to build up their storewith milkfree products.
And of course products for the kids that have glutenallergie.
